The Biaber Project trains Ethiopian health care providers with minimal prior psychiatric training to treat Common Mental Disorders using a brief evidence-supported, culturally-adapted model of Interpersonal Psychotherapy called Ethiopian IPT. The project partners are working together to improve screening for Common Mental Disorders and domestic violence, and to reduce associated stigma, using a sustainable knowledge transfer and exchange process to expand access to care for the mentally ill that is facilitated by an enduring network of Ethiopian IPT providers and trainers.

IGA is currently managing this project for the Toronto Addis Ababa Psychiatry Programme (TAAPP) at the University of Toronto.
